How TF2 Bolt works, game mechanics, odds, fairness, support and common questions.
How TF2Bolt works
TF2 Bolt is a Steam-item gaming site focused on Team Fortress 2. Deposited TF2 items go to My Items, where you can use them in item games or sell them for Bolts. Supported CS2, Dota 2 and Rust deposits convert to Bolts; they do not become playable My Items. Bolts are our internal unit for tracking item value while you play and have no value outside the site. Use the tabs above for a breakdown of each game. If a game has a house cut, it is disclosed in the relevant game rules; games that rely on a house edge expose the odds needed to understand that risk. Every game besides externally settled matches is designed to be provably fair and verifiable by the user.
TF2Bolt FAQ
How do deposits and withdrawals work?
On the Deposit page, select items and request a Steam trade offer. TF2 items appear in My Items once accepted, where you can use them or sell them for Bolts. Supported CS2, Dota 2 and Rust deposits convert to Bolts under their applicable settlement rules. To withdraw eligible items after meeting your wager requirement, submit a withdrawal request.
What's the "wager requirement," and why do I have one?
Each deposit adds to a running requirement - a minimum amount you need to wager before withdrawing - which is satisfied by playing our games (different games count at different rates; see Terms of Service for details). This exists to keep the site sustainable and discourage deposit-then-immediately-withdraw abuse. You can always check your exact progress under Profile → Wager Requirement.
Are the games actually fair, or is it rigged?
Crates, Coinflip, and Crafter use a provably-fair system: every result comes from a secret seed whose hash is published before you ever bet, combined with a seed you control yourself - meaning nobody, including us, can predict or change an outcome after the fact. See the Provably Fair tab for the full explanation and to verify any of your own past bets. Roulette, Payload, and Jackpot use a similar commit-then-reveal system built around each round.
Does the house have an edge? What is it?
Yes - like any other site, every game here has a built-in house edge, meaning the odds are structured so the site is profitable over a large number of plays. This isn't hidden: several games display their exact odds/payout math in the game itself. See each game's tab above for its specific mechanics.
How long do withdrawals take?
Withdrawals are fulfilled automatically within 1 minute if they pass checks that we have. Otherwise up to 10 minutes. You can track the request on the Inventory page and cancel it while it is still pending.
Is my Steam account safe? What do you have access to?
We only ever request the trade offers you explicitly approve - we never ask for your Steam password, Steam Guard codes, or any account credentials. Only send trade offers you initiated or expected through the site. The only information we have is already public on your Steam: nickname/profile picture and steam ID - which are only used to differentiate users(these can also be hidden in Privacy tab)
Can I get a refund on a deposit or a bet?
No - accepted deposits and completed bets are final. TF2 deposits remain in My Items; supported CS2, Dota 2 and Rust deposits convert to Bolts. Once a game round resolves, the outcome stands. See the Terms of Service for the complete policy. If you believe you've been affected by an error, please contact support.

📦 TF2 Crates
How it works
Pick a crate, and pay its cost in Bolts (or, for a Budget/Unusual Token crate, spend exactly 1 of that token instead). Each crate has a fixed pool of possible items with fixed odds - opening it rolls a provably-fair result from that pool and adds the item straight to your Inventory, where you can keep it, sell it back for its current value, or withdraw it to Steam.
Odds & house edge
Every crate's cost is calculated from the real, current market value of everything inside it, plus a built-in house edge. You can see every possible item and its exact odds before opening: hover a crate on desktop, or tap its Odds button on mobile.
Common questions
Can I see the odds before opening? Yes - hover a crate on desktop or tap Odds on mobile to see its full item list with drop chances and values.
What are the standard/budget modes? Standard mode has equal odds for all items inside, meaning it automatically costs more, while budget mode introduces Budget Tokens that have highest chance of being unboxed but at the same time costing less and leaving a chance for other rarer/more valuable drops.
What are Budget/Unusual Token crates? Special crates that cost tokens instead of Bolts. Unusual Tokens are earned as a rare drop from crates - which can be used to open Unusual Token Crates. Budget Tokens are only available from Budget mode while opening a crate and can be used to open Budget Token Crates.
Is the roll actually random? Yes - see the Provably Fair tab to verify any of your own past unboxes.
🪙 TF2 Coinflip
How it works
Create a flip by staking items on Red or Blu; another player joins with items of roughly matching value on the other side. Once both sides are set, the flip resolves instantly - the winner takes (most of) the combined pot. Coinflip has "sniping" protection, users who want to join a flip - must contribute 85% to 115% of the current pot.
Odds & house edge
Odds are weighted by contribution - if you stake 60% of the total value, you have roughly a 60% chance to win. The house takes a small cut of items from the losing side once the pot reaches a certain size, rather than a percentage of Bolts, so very small flips may not be cut at all.
Common questions
Can I cancel a flip I created? Yes, as long as nobody has joined it yet.
Why don't my items match the total exactly? Joining allows a small value tolerance either way so flips are actually joinable; odds are still calculated from the real contributed values, not a rounded number.
Is the flip rigged toward the house? No - see the Provably Fair tab; every flip's result is independently verifiable once its seed is revealed.
⚙️ TF2 Upgrader / Crafter
How it works
Pick up to 3 items from your inventory and a target item you'd like to try to craft. Your combined input value can never exceed the target's value. Hit Craft - on a win, the target item is added to your inventory; on a loss, all input items are consumed either way.
Odds & house edge
Your odds of success scale with how close your combined input value is to the target's value - the closer you get, the better your chances, but never guaranteed. Inputs are always consumed regardless of outcome, which is where the house edge comes from.
Common questions
Do I get my input items back if I lose? No - inputs are consumed on both a win and a loss.
Can I craft using more valuable inputs than the target? No - combined input value can never exceed the target's value.
How is the winning/losing roll decided? Provably fair - see the Provably Fair tab to verify any of your own past crafts.
🎯 TF2 Jackpot
How it works
Everyone deposits items into a shared pot during a betting window. Once the round ends, one depositor is drawn as the winner and takes the entire pot (minus the house cut) - your odds of winning are exactly proportional to how much value you contributed relative to the total pot. Just like any other game, Jackpot has anti-sniping protection - minimum/maximum contribution requirements, these change based on the pot value. These requirements are determined by the value of first players contribution to the pot.
Odds & house edge
The house takes a percentage cut of the final pot before paying the winner, but unlike on other websites, winner - always gets more than he put in, we do not take cut if it means winner getting nothing, or even losing more than he put in. Odds are always transparent and proportional - depositing 10% of the pot's total value gives you exactly a 10% chance to win.
Common questions
Can I get my items back if I don't win? No - once deposited into a round, items are only returned if the round is cancelled before it resolves.
How is the winner picked? Using a round-based commit/reveal fairness system - the winning point is determined by a seed committed (hashed) before the round even starts, so it can't be adjusted afterward. Click the fairness/verify option on a past round to check it yourself.
🎡 TF2 Roulette
How it works
Place Bolts on Red, Blu, or Crit during the betting window; once it closes, one outcome is drawn and winning bets are paid out at that color's multiplier.
Odds & house edge
Red and Blu each win close to (but under) half the time; Crit is a rare, high-multiplier outcome. Roulette has standard house-edge..
Common questions
Why isn't Red/Blu exactly 50/50? Crit needs to win sometimes too - Red and Blu split the remaining probability.
Can a round's outcome be changed after I bet? No - see the Provably Fair tab; each round's seed is committed and hashed before betting opens.
🛒 TF2 Crash / Payload
How it works
Place a bet, then watch a multiplier climb in real time from 1.00x upwards 1000.00x. Cash out any time before the round crashes to lock in your current multiplier - if you don't cash out before the crash, you lose your stake.
Odds & house edge
The crash point for each round is generated the same way as Roulette/Jackpot - committed and hashed in advance - with the underlying probability curve shaped by the site's configured house edge, so higher multipliers become progressively rarer.
Common questions
Is there a way to guarantee a cash-out? No - the crash point is fixed the moment the round starts; nothing you do during the round changes it, only when you choose to cash out.
Can I verify a past round? Yes - see the Provably Fair tab.
⚔️ Esports Betting & TF2 Competitive Matches
How it works
Browse upcoming esports matches and wager Bolts on whichever team you think will win. Each market clearly shows which odds system is active: Pool odds or Locked dynamic odds.
Odds & house edge
In Pool mode, the losing pool (minus the configured house cut) is shared proportionally among winning bettors, and a one-sided market is refunded. In Locked dynamic mode, an untouched market starts at the configured symmetric opening line (1.860 / 1.860 by default), the displayed prices move as wagers change the balance of the market, and the exact decimal odds accepted with your bet are permanently locked for that wager. A winning locked-odds bet pays stake × locked odds, even if the market moves later.
Common questions
What happens if a match is cancelled? Unsettled Bolts are returned to players.
Can locked-odds bets be swapped or cashed out? No. Once accepted, the selected team and decimal odds are final. Pool-mode bets keep the existing pre-lock Cash Out and Swap Team controls.
Who decides the match result? Match outcomes are determined by match data providers and are closed automatically based on the real-world result, not randomly generated - this game doesn't use the provably-fair seed system, since there's no random roll to verify.
