The attributes that can change an item price
- Quality: Unique, Strange, Unusual, Vintage, Genuine, Collector's and other qualities are distinct variants.
- Unusual effect: an Unusual item should be priced with its effect whenever a reliable effect-specific quote exists.
- War Paint and wear: decorated weapons combine a skin with a weapon and a wear tier.
- Killstreak tier: Killstreak, Specialized Killstreak and Professional Killstreak are separate market variants.
- Attachments: Strange Parts and legacy Halloween spells can contribute additional value.
- Special families: Australium weapons and other distinctive item families should be matched as their own variants.
Why identical-looking cards can have different values
Steam item names and descriptions carry information that is easy to miss in a small inventory grid. Two Rocket Launchers may differ by Strange quality, a Professional Killstreak tier, a spell or a War Paint wear level. If a price lookup drops one of those attributes, the result can be materially wrong.
For that reason, TF2Bolt exposes the pricing method and detected tags in the Price Checker instead of showing only a single unexplained number.
Suggested sell and suggested buy
A market can have a spread between the amount a buyer is offering and the amount a seller is asking. TF2Bolt labels both sides when data is available. The suggested sell side is the more relevant reference when estimating what you might receive for an item; the suggested buy side is closer to what acquiring the same item may cost.
