How the live ratio is calculated
TF2Bolt reads the current buy and sell references for the Mann Co. Supply Crate Key. When both refined-metal sides are available, their midpoint defines the working refined-per-key ratio used for conversions. If live data is temporarily unavailable, the interface labels the returned rate as a fallback rather than pretending it is live.
Converting keys and refined metal
For a quote expressed as keys plus refined metal, the key equivalent is calculated as keys + (refined ÷ refined-per-key). Keeping that formula consistent matters because even a small difference in the assumed refined-per-key rate can move the displayed value of an expensive inventory.
Why TF2Bolt uses the same unit everywhere
Price Checker, deposit valuation and attachment calculations should not use competing definitions of one key. The live key reference exists specifically to keep those pages on the same TF2-denominated basis.
